My Magazine Ad

The final edit of my magazine ad I thought it would be a fun concept to like the ad with fashion hence why there is a dress up doll and boxes with clothing and scissors on the floor.

This is the final edit of my digipak. I made it colourful and fun cause that is the vibe you get from the song.

Problems Faced During Filming

I was originally meant to have 4 girls in my music video but that had to change due to them having other commitments but overall it still work out well.

I also had problems with the location i was meant to use a hall but had to cancel it due to me being very ill and there were a lot booked up on other days, so my cousin let me use his barber shop as the location it was quite difficult to film there due to there being a lack of space but I think i made it work. The location was a bit small so it made it hard to get some shots for my music video.

I also was unable to get a hold of a green screen so this put a halt to my plans for using but because i had a limited number of time before the filming had to be done, my filming had to be done without it.

Influences Of Having More Than One Person Lip-syncing

I decided that I wanted to have more then one person lip-sync to the song.

I felt that by doing this I would be able to to portray different style that may be more appealing to the audience and bring in a range of audience.

For example the song "Rock star" by Nickleback it had different type of people lip-syncing to it from hip-hop stars to to pop singers this I feel enable the song to be liked by different types of people even though the song was rock and it drew in an audience from different genres as well as its own genre.

There have been plenty of other song where there has been more than one person lip-sync to lyrics sung by one person.

Like Micheal Jackson "black or white" where he had different people of all races lip-syncing to the lyrics they were of different genders as well as different ages. This would of drew in different types of an audience because in way everyone was represented in this song and could identify with at least one person who was lip-syncing.

Another example of videos like this was "Valerie" by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse where they had 5 different girls to lip-sync Amy Winehouse's parts of the song since she was not able to be there.

So me doing this has been done before and it will be fun to try and do. I want to have more than one person because I want there to be a person that the audience will like and who is there style like one maybe a rocker and another maybe into glamorous or tomboyish clothing it gives me the opportunity to make the lyrics and visuals match and I think I will gain a variety of audience.

Questionaire And My Analysis

The aim of me doing this questionnaire was to see how popular Lady Gaga is amongst audiences and what type of audience does she attract.

Aims and Objectives of the research:

• Find out peoples views on Lady Gaga's music.


• To find out if the audience like her music video and what about draws them in.


• To find out whether synthopop/pop was a common genre that was known and liked by a wide range of people.


• To find out the main age group and gender Lady Gaga appeals to.


• What about Lady Gaga appealed to people.
  

Methodology

I used open and closed questions, there were 20 questionnaires given out to give me a wide range of opinions and views the audience has about Lady Gaga.

Findings

From conducting this questionnaire I found out that people had an idea of the synthpop genre but did not know much about it. They were kind of new to it since it is quite a new genre to arise and is not common but people did not mind listening to the music that came from it.

I found out that people do like her music videos because it is eccentric and unique its also video that have people talking especially Alejandro, Bad Romance and Telephone. What attracts an audience most to Lady Gaga is her songs but mainly her style and music video because they are so controversial and you always have n opinion on music video weather you like it or not. But there was quite a few people who did not like Lady Gaga because they found her to be very extreme.

Although the participants of the questionnaire recognised that she was talented they all stated that the image is what makes her popular and what she is mainly known for.

I found that Lady Gaga appeal to a wide range of audiences both male and female mainly females because she shows confidence and breaks away from the mold and that its okay to be different she represents "outcast". The male gaze is why Lady Gaga is so appealing to men she wears revealing clothing and shows a lot of her body. The age group that I found were interested in her were mainly teenagers.

Cast Notes

Trecy Mayavova will be playing the role of 1 out of the 4 Gaga's. in terms of the audience I feel she will be portrayed as the cute girl next door. People from the audience will be able to relate to that. I decided to use her because she has previous experience of being in a music video and i thought her looks would fit within my music video.

Rodiér will also be playing the role of Lady Gaga as well I wanted her because I thought that she would be able to be the stylish one since she does love clothes and fashion as well she also has face that when needed to be cute it can and when you need her to look sexy she can too.

Jessica Mavambu will be my tomboyish and sporty Gaga. I picked her to play that role because those are her everyday clothes and are the kind of clothes she feels comfortable in. In terms of audience I feel that all the girls that are all about their comfort rather than dressing in the latest designer trend will be able to relate to her.

Maria Olulucie will be one of my Gaga's she will be the one who will be the kind of glamorous, sexy one. I thought she would bring in a range of audience because she has some sort of appeal that would get attention from both male and females, she has that confidence that some women and girls want.

Green Screen/ Chroma Key Research

Since I can not afford to have different colour backgrounds i need to use green screen since its less costly.

It is used in Hollywood blockbusters and on TV shows to create sets and backgrounds that would be too costly or even impossible to build.

How to use Chroma Key:

The first thing you need to have is a green background, and there are several ways to achieve this.The next thing you will need is the one thing most people tend to forget and try to do without. And it always results in very poor results.

Lighting. You will need at least three light sources, preferably softboxes or 'umbrella' reflector lights. Two of the lights will be on the green screen (One either side at 45 degrees facing the back-drop), and one will be on your subject or presenter directly behind the camcorder (Ideally two lights for this as well, but you can get away with just using the one).

The presenter needs to be at least three feet from the back-drop, so they do not cast any shadow onto the chroma key background (Shadows and creases in the back-drop will make it harder to get a good chroma key effect when we start using the video editing software later on).

So the trick to great chroma key is to fill the back-drop with soft even light that is twice as bright as the light on the foreground object or presenter and avoid any shadows (or creases) on the back-drop.

Remember NOT to wear anything that is similar in colour to the green back-drop.

If you do, when you add the chroma key effect in your video editing software later, the background video or image you add will be seen on that item of clothing as well.

This can be used to good effect, if you want something to disappear for instance, just cover it with another piece of green cloth, and the background image will appear on it making it seem like it has just disappeared.

But there is the danger of using chromakey just because it seems cool to do, and the results can often look very poor and gimmicky. Chroma key is very hard to do really well, and I recommend just using plain coloured back drops (black, white etc.) or a simple background set (Like a desk, computer and plant for example) for most videos, as they look much more professional and don't require as much technical input as chroma key.

You only require two lights for a set or plain back-drops, and the video editing doesn't require any special techniques or software.

Location Report

This is the location I have to use because the one I had originally intended to use was shut. So this was my second choice.

Target Audience

In terms of my Target Audience I looked at Lady Gaga's Facbook page to see what types of people she has as her audience from doing this I found that she has an audience of female that range from the age of 14 to 25 and in terms of male they homosexuals and from the ages of 18 to 30.
doing this helps me know what I need to do for my music video to make it suitable for my audience.
when conducted a survey about Lady Gaga i found that female lied her whereas some men did not like her. but there was different views on her music and style.
for my music video i will make sure it is fitting to the audience due to the fact that i will make it a fun video with dance routines so that it will be well received.
